“Uruguay chic... and basic”
Dimensión adecuada. Confortable y limpio. Design y arquitectura Uruguay style.

Quiero volver.

“Peaceful...secluded...romantic”
This is a wonderful romantic get away, if that's your goal I'd recommend staying in this cozy place. Our upstairs room had a large deck, sliding glass doors that allowed an amazing view of the ocean from bed and a shower with a view of the ocean. It also had air conditioning. I am quite sure a downstairs room would have been disappointing. The view from the deck was magnificent! We had lounge chairs to enjoy the evening stars. We didn't realize how far the drive would be to Punta del Este, or the cost of a taxi... I'd recommend renting a car if planning a trip to Punta. Even the walk into Jose Ignacio would be a trek after dinner (I'm guessing 1.5k), but of course would be romantic. We were able to rent the owners car for a reasonable price. We didn't have much contact with the owner, but rather another employee who was delightful. I agree with others who said it was more like a family home...eating dinner while you're trying to enjoy the setting. I found charm in this, but in reality for the price being paid each night it was unprofessional. My low rating is due to the discrepancy in price and quality. But perhaps that's the price of being there in January, not sure.

“Perfect and Peaceful”
Azul Marino is outstanding. My partner and I went there for a few days before going to La Barra. The people (Javier and his wife) were so gracious. The setting was unreal and it felt like we were at someone's home. It was peaceful and quiet (not to mention extremely clean.) Javier brought a bottle of wine and cheese moments after our arrival, we sat in the back on our private porch, and just enjoyed the scenery. Every morning, breakfast (fresh coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, cut up fresh fruit, home-made croissants, bread, etc.) It was cozy and will definitely be on our return list. Additionally, it is located directly in the middle of two OUTSTANDING restuarants - Namm and Marismo. These are both must-eats.

“Very Relaxed, Very Jose Ignacio”
Having frequented Jose Ignacio for over a decade (I rent a house there every summer), I have to say that as a Bed and Breakfast this place is highly recommendable. I stayed there almost a week this summer after I had to turn in my rented house and I was just not ready to leave the beach yet. Azul Marino is like staying at someone`s home... but with the privacy of a small hotel. Typical of the area, it is understated but very clean and with everything you need for a beach place. My room had AC and a tv that my children watched a little bit at night.
The view of the pennisula and lighthouse is amazing. It is run by the owners, which I prefer, and it is easy!! Breakfast is served when you are ready, not with some annoying schedule. My children loved the restaurant because basically they told us what was fresh and my children asked for what they wanted and the way they wanted it prepared. It is a place where we felt very welcomed.
Just like the rest of Jose Ignacio, it is unpretentious, but a great place in a beautiful setting. Not to mention that is between Marismo and Namm, two of the best restaurants in the whole Punta area... not just Jose Ignacio.
One other good thing about the place is that although it is small there are several types of rooms which is nice if you are travelling with children, especially teenagers. There is a pool, but we only used it very late afternoon as we were almost always at the beach.
My children and I will definitely return. As others have noted you will need a car there.
